Introduction
The Let’s Act Campaign, developed for the City of Cape Town, was created to encourage residents to become active participants in building safer, cleaner, and more connected communities. Through positive messaging and community focused storytelling, the campaign promoted the idea that meaningful change begins with everyday actions taken by ordinary people.
The objective was to develop a compelling social media communication system that would inspire civic responsibility while making public participation feel accessible, empowering, and achievable. Rather than simply raising awareness, the campaign sought to encourage long term behavioural change by celebrating collective action and community ownership.
Our role was to create a cohesive creative system that translated the campaign’s vision into engaging digital content, enabling the City of Cape Town to communicate consistently across multiple initiatives while strengthening public engagement.
The Challenge
Public awareness campaigns often struggle to convert attention into meaningful action. The challenge was to create social media content that motivated residents to actively participate in improving their communities while communicating a broad range of civic topics in a clear and engaging way.
The creative system also needed to remain flexible enough to support environmental awareness, public safety, community initiatives, service delivery messaging, and ongoing civic education while maintaining a consistent campaign identity.
The Strategy
Our strategy focused on making community action feel personal and achievable. Rather than relying on institutional messaging, the campaign used positive storytelling and accessible design to encourage residents to recognise the impact of small everyday actions.
Every creative decision was guided by three strategic principles.
- Community begins with individual action.
- Positive storytelling encourages participation.
- Consistent communication strengthens public trust.
This strategic framework created a flexible social media system capable of supporting multiple campaign themes while maintaining a unified visual identity that residents could easily recognise and engage with.
The Creative System
The visual system combines bold typography, vibrant colour, engaging imagery, and clean layouts to create content that is both informative and approachable. Every design was developed to communicate civic messaging with clarity while encouraging participation through optimistic and action oriented storytelling.
Designed for flexibility, the system supports awareness campaigns, educational content, community initiatives, service announcements, environmental messaging, and public engagement across multiple digital platforms.

Bringing the Campaign to Life
The creative system was implemented across a wide range of social media content designed to educate, inspire, and activate communities throughout Cape Town.
From environmental awareness and neighbourhood initiatives to public safety messaging and community success stories, every piece of content contributed to a consistent digital presence that encouraged residents to take ownership of the places where they live, work, and connect.
The result is a campaign that transforms civic communication into meaningful public participation through thoughtful design and engaging storytelling.
